Befriending

We match local volunteers to older people living in the borough so to develop inter-generational connections across Fulham.  Visits might take place in homes or out in the community.

The service is currently oversubscribed. However, please check back again in July 2020.

Alternatively, please consider our Digital Inclusion service instead.

Following the outbreak of coronavirus all of our befriending matches have transitioned to regular telephone calls.

This is essential at this time and supports us in referring beneficiaries to other FGN and external services.

Decorating

This project serves those local older and disabled residents who:

- Are unable to decorate by themselves

- Have no one else to ask for this help

- Are unable to pay for this service

We can spend two to three days on each decorating task, including time needed to obtain materials.

Since the project is oversubscribed we prioritise based on need and state of disrepair.

Please complete the Decorating Service Declaration or contact us specifying your request.

Due to the outbreak of Coronavirus we can only consider external work at this time on a case by case, risk assessed basis.  As such waiting times will be considerably longer than normal.  Thank you for your patience at this time.

Gardening

Gardening maintenance done by our experienced and knowledgeable gardener.

This project serves local older and disabled residents who:

- are unable to clear gardens by themselves

- have no one else to ask for this help

- are unable to pay for this service

4th Generation

This project is designed to:

- Increase social inclusion by linking individuals with social groups, activities and other support services such as befriending and transport assistance.

- Help prevent future unplanned hospital admissions.

Connections 4th Generation is open to Fulham residents aged 85 years and older who have recently been discharged home from Charing Cross Hospital.

We are working with the British Red Cross “Next Steps” programme to identify people who may benefit from this project.

Please click below for more information:

Digital Inclusion

The Digital Inclusion project matches local volunteers with older people living in the borough.  We aim to support older people to use the internet and other digital technology in a safe and supportive environment.

The project is tailored to your needs via one to one sessions.  A friendly volunteer will visit you at home and help with anything from: making a free Skype call to a relative overseas, online shopping, using/setting up tablets or smart phones and much more.

Since the coronavirus lockdown our home visits are on hold.  However, please get in touch if you would appreciate support over the telephone; or if you would like to be supported so to attend our online social clubs.

To make a referral or to learn more about this project please contact Lucia on: luciaciolanel@fulhamgoodneighbours.org or 020 7385 8850.

For information about volunteering with the project visit our Volunteer with Us page.

To learn about the difference the project has made this year, please read our Year 2 Impact Report (April 2019 - March 2020).

Social Club Rules

Social Club Rules:

  • Our clubs are for over 60-year-olds.
  • If you attend Fulham Lunch Club, please do not attend Fulham Sunday Afternoon Tea (and vice versa). An exception is made for volunteers who help with the Fulham Lunch Club.
  • Please attend only one of the Silver Clubs on a consistent basis.
  • Please always book in advance if you want to attend a Silver Club and cancel if you are no longer able to. This frees your place for someone else.
  • If you require support to get to any of our clubs, please talk to us. We can help you apply for Dial a Ride or Taxi Card and in exceptional circumstances will cover your transport costs.

The above rules are created for the purpose of the highest possible number of people benefiting from our clubs. Your feedback on them and improvement suggestions are greatly appreciated.
